What Marvel said about Mr. Giffen

Giffen continues to bring his unique brand of humor to all his stories, including this offbeat tale involving one of his personal favorites, the Amazing Spider-Man. "Spider-Man stories should be fun, especially the fight scenes, which should be downright wacky. What I liked about Spider-Man is that he used his brains to defeat villains, without anyone even realizing it. He would not only fight the bad guys, but also try to trick them at the same time. He'd use all sorts of wisecracks which would rattle the villains and cause them to make mistakes and slip up. He basically got them to beat themselves."

Giffen is known as someone who does not necessarily follow the comic book rules, so naturally he enjoys working in SHADOWS & LIGHT'S different black and white format. "What I love about black and white is that it's so pure and it's honest. There're no excuses, what's there is there. If you screw up, it's there for all the world to see. No fancy coloring to save you this time, folks!"
