Kordia

Kordia provides a range of services, including connectivity, cloud and cyber security services, as well as managed IT, field services, broadcast and safety of life communications.
It was formed as a subsidiary of Television New Zealand Ltd (TVNZ) on 1 July 1989 as Broadcast Communications Ltd (BCL) when the then government moved from the Public service model of the NZBC to the state owned enterprise approach where the entities had to operate as commercial entities returning a profit to the crown. These new "business" inherited the assets, infrastructure, and in some cases debts of the pre-existing government departments.
At the time BCL managed 600 transmission sites for radio and television, of which 15 reach 80 per cent of the population. I
It was contracted by TV3 to manage transmitters for TV3 in preparation for it's lunch in 1989.
In 2003 TVNZ was restructured from a State Owned Enterprise (SOE) to a Crown Entity with a dual commercial-(public service) charter remit.
BCL was split from TVNZ into a separate business entity named Transmission Holdings Limited (THL, THL Group), with the New Zealand broadcasting business continuing to operate under the name BCL.
In November 2006, the business, Transmission Holdings Limited Group (BCL, THLA, AAPCS) was rebranded to Kordia.
