Network telecasts between the television stations in the four main centres would begin on Monday, November 3, the Director-General of the N.Z.B.C. (Mr G. H. Stringer) said today.

“N.Z.B.C. engineers are at present installing the last links and will be testing them next week,” he said. “Initially all stations will telecast network news at 7.33 p.m. daily, originating from WNTVI, with injections from other stations as required. ‘Gallery’ will also be a network presentation on Wednesdays and Fridays.

“Further work on permanent equipment is required before other network telecasts are established on a regular schedule.” Mr Stringer said the opening addresses of the leaders of the three main political parties would be telecast live in the first week of the network. The Prime Minister. (Mr Holyoake) would speak from Christchurch on Monday. The Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk) would speak on Tuesday and the Social Credit Leader (Mr V. Fi Cracknell) on Wednesday, both from Auckland. Most other pre-election addresses and programmes would also be shown on the network, as would election results on polling night.
