Brady, Alan
His father established his own newspaper in Ireland and Alan spent two years on a small weekly paper before joining the family paper. When he decided to see the world he chose New Zealand as a starting place, but he got stuck here. He liked the country, the people, and the style of life generally.
He worked on the Manawatu Evening Standard and the Otago Daily Times, and then returned to Britain for a time, working on the Belfast Telegraph (the biggest evening paper outside London) as a Parliamentary correspondent, aviation correspondent, and industrial correspondent. He returned to New Zealand and the Otago Daily Times, and later joined the N.Z.B.C.
