A contemporary review in The Christchurch Press records it as ...a delightful encounter between the young man (John Banas) and the girl (Heather Eggleton) in the park. It was light and frothy, with quick, effective cuts to slapstick comedy as the principals reflected on what they were saying to each other, but there was behind it a more serious message. John Banas handled a difficult part expertly and with a delicate touch, and Heather Eggleton did not make the mistake of overdoing the glamour. She munched her sandwiches steadily, addressed her strange new friend in every-day language and in familiar rather than fruity tones. It was a very delightful performance, and a delightful play
