In the Depression-stricken 1930s Jack Winter still tramps the now worked-out goldfields he knew in his prime. 50 years ago. One bitter night he settles down to sleep in the ruins of the Drover's Rest, a derelict inn. He has some premonition that this will be his final sleep. So it is, and in it he dreams the Drover's Rest back to life, and peoples it with figures from the goldrush days.
