Lynn of Tawa in her own show — neat, eh?

Press, 15 September 1982,

Tawa's own ambassador and former Miss Aluminium Extrusions. Lynn, will be the host of her own series, which will centre on the lives and people of the borough of Tawa. near Wellington. "Lynn of Tawa" will start on One on Monday at 8 p.m.

Ginette MacDonald has been performing as Lynn since she was 17 years old. but it is only recently that she has become a popular public figure, even appearing in the New Zealand Royal Variety Show. Her talented brother. Michael, writes all her material for her, and as any performer knows, one is only as good as one's material.

The new six-part series will begin with a flash limousine, bearing the lovely Lynn, drawing up outside the Tawa Public Library where the Tiki Room is ready and waiting to receive and record "Lynn of Tawa." Tawa Talk will be a feature of each show. In this segment Lynn will interview such unlikely Tawa celebrities as the Rugby Rev. Brian Trouser; Tawa's everpopular car salesman. Warren Peace; not to mention Tawa's own trend-setter. Bunty du Bois. and many others.

Dance routines will be an integral part of "Lynn of Tawa" and many talented choreographers have contributed dance sequences. Liz Davey, formerly of Impulse Dance Theatre, with her group Body Language, will appear in four episodes. Trish Hodgson and Ooomph! will also be guests, and two dance sequences have been specially choreographed and recorded in Auckland by Marc Stevens. Each programme will feature musical numbers from Tawa's own night club.

Guest musicians will include Dave Feehan. who recently played Jesus Christ in the Wellington Operatic's production of "Jesus Christ' Superstar." Dennis Mason. Dalvanius and Barletta and Mr Bob Smith.

The piece-de-resislance of the first episode will be an interview by Lynn of a ratner bemused Michael Parkinson. who played along with the spirit of the interview and took all the goodnatured ribbing in good part.

A further episode will have Lynn visiting the “Good Morning!” set to have a chat with its presenter, Tinsel.
