New Zealand contributed for the first time to this live inter-continental programme, which featured the music of Christmas in many parts of the world. The New Zealand segment took place at the Turangawaewae Marae where a 50-strong Māori choir presented a choral Nativity. Other countries taking part were Britain, France, Germany, Jamaica, Israel and the USA.
